New Sefer Torah at Torah Academy

February 1, 2019

On Sunday Feb. 10, in a community-wide celebration, Orlando Torah Academy will be welcoming a brand new Sefer Torah/Torah Scroll. This monumental project began almost a year ago and was undertaken by Dean Rabbi Avraham Wachsman to honor and perpetuate the memory of his father who passed away last February.

“My father dedicated his life to teaching Torah and the beauty of a life of Torah. Writing a new Torah in his memory is a fitting tribute to his memory and a perpetuation of his legacy,” said Rabbi Wachsman.

The day will be full of festivities, beginning with the scribe completing the last few lines of the Torah. A mini Kidstivities popup station will be set up for children to decorate flags and other Torah themed projects. Children will then have fun participating in the spirited Torah marching musical parade.  The Orlando Torah Academy students will entertain you with a choir, and an elegant smorgasbord will be enjoyed by all. All are welcome to attend this event on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 1-3 p.m. at Orlando Torah Academy, 8651 Commodity Circle, Orlando 32819.

A special website,  www.OrlandoSeferTorah.com, has been set up to be a partner in writing this new Torah.
