On Feb. 4, from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., speaker Justin Bachman will be presenting his program to the students enrolled in the Holocaust Center's UpStanders program. This evening presentation is an opportunity for our community and the parents of students to hear his story of strength and determination as he overcame significant challenges.

In elementary school, Bachman was a scared, insecure and lost child. He wasn't good at making friends, and never seemed to fit in. He told himself he was worthless, internalized those feelings and believed them wholeheartedly. He thought his life didn't matter.

Today, at 22 years of age, Bachman is an accomplished broadcast journalist for Spectrum News in Syracuse, New York. He is a national storyteller who has a track record of halting suicide plans. His 60-minute program is moving, empowering, and uniquely impactful. As a suicide survivor, he will share his journey and discuss how he came to realize the underlying problems causing his feelings of worthlessness and how he embraces his differences today.

He is open and honest and will take your questions following the program.

Program is appropriate for adults and students age 10 and up.

Bachman has done more than 150 full school assemblies in 16 different states. Throughout his speaking career, he has spoken to more than 125,000 people and reached millions over social media.

This event, organized by the Holocaust Center of Florida, is free and will be held at the Roth Family JCC.
