The Roth Family JCC to reopen June 1

With great excitement, The Roth Family JCC CEO, Keith Dvorchik announced that the JCC will begin a step-by-step reopening on Monday, June 1.

“We extend a heartfelt thank you to everybody who was able to help support us during the past two months while we were closed,” Dvorchik said in an email to JCC members.

Here is the plan:

• The Richard S. Adler Early Childhood Learning Center will reopen on Monday, June 1, with smaller class sizes and ratios. If you plan for your child to return on June 1, please read the important information on the ECLC FAQ page so you will know what to expect and how to ensure you have a spot. Please note that we are in a new normal and in order to do our best to keep people safe, there are many changes effective June 1.

• The Andrew Hansen Mandell Camp J will reopen on Monday, June 8. Camp J will not be running its normal pre-camp week. Spaces are limited. To ensure a spot in Camp J, please register by Tuesday, May 26. After that date, spots may not be available and they will only be able to accept late registrations if there happens to be an open space.

“Camp J will look different, but rest assured that it will still be filled with fun activities, including aquatics, arts and crafts, Flag, and Song Sessions. We are adding some exciting, new options and can’t wait to share them with you,” Dvorchik said.

For information about what Camp J will look like, please visit our Camp J FAQ page.

• The Fitness Center, group exercise classes, and basketball gym will remain closed at this time. Once the executive order keeping them closed is lifted, they will re-evaluate and plan a measured opening.

• The JCC’s Sports and Aquatics programs have also been altered. There will be evening access to the pool, providing a great place to rest, relax, swim, and enjoy connecting with people while appropriately social distancing. Swim lessons are also returning. Sports Leagues are not returning yet, but the J hopes to be able to re-evaluate that in July.

• The Cultural Arts programming and senior programming, including the 39ers, will remain virtual at this time. We have many new programs launching this summer. Read all the details on the Cultural Arts and Seniors FAQ pages.

“Safety is our top priority, and much will be different when we reopen,” Dvorchik stated. To read about the reopening plan, important policies and procedures, and details for each of the major departments, please visit our JCC Reopening FAQ page, which has links to all departmental FAQ pages. I want to add a special thanks to our JCC staff, who worked so hard to revise our policies and prepare us for this reopening.
