The Roth Family JCC's back to school protocol

As the school year approaches, families are facing an unprecedented challenge as they seek a quality education for their children in a safe and supportive environment.

The Roth Family JCC is doing its part to help. They are launching an initiative to provide all-day childcare for elementary, middle, and high school students who are enrolled in virtual/distance learning programs.

As part of this initiative, the JCC will offer a safe place for students to do their schoolwork under the supervision of a dedicated academic support professional. This innovative program will provide students with the support they need to learn, grow, and excel — while giving their parents the peace of mind that comes with knowing their children are in the hands of a trusted friend.

Some details about how this program will be structured include:

• The school day will run from 9 am to 4 pm and will include 3 hours of schoolwork, an hour for lunch, and 3 hours of enrichment activities, such as swimming and small-group activities.

• During all school work, students will be appropriately distanced in groups of 8 or fewer.

• Before- and after-care options will be available.

• Academic support professionals will ensure that your children participate in their respective distance-learning programs while helping them structure their week to help maximize academic success.

All safety protocols now in place at The Roth Family JCC will continue, including face masks for children and staff, frequent hand washing, and social distancing.

If you have questions in the meantime, please contact the JCC’s Tara Harris.
