Eugenio Alberto Gerscovich, MD, of Winter Park, Fla., died on Jan. 20, 2021. He was 82 years old.

Gerscovich was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Jose and Luisa on November 20, 1938. A true “Porteno,” Eugenio spent his formative years in Buenos Aires, graduating from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in 1961.

Gerscovich came to the United States in 1964 to complete his internship and residency in Chicago, IL and Brooklyn NY respectively.

Following the completion of his residency, Gerscovich opened his own general surgery practice in conjunction with Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn.

In 1973, Dr. Gerscovich relocated to the Orlando area. By 1980, he had built on of the areas most respected surgical practices, the Florida Surgical Group, with his long-time friend, partner and fellow surgeon, Dr. George Ulch. By 2000, the surgeons had helped thousands of patients. Eugenio’s family fondly remembers countless patients through the years stopping Dr. G, at Publix or in Paris, to thank him for his care.

He will be remembered by those who knew him as a man whose love of good wine, good food, good friends and travel was only surpassed by his love of family.

Gerscovich is survived by his wife, Katherine of Winter Park, his children — Gabrielle of Orlando, Daniel of Spartanburg, S.C., Carina of Orlando and Patrick of Maitland; his grandchildren — Rachel of Atlanta, Shira of Atlanta, Tatiana of Lithia, Jonathan of Lithia, Grayson of Spartanburg and Parker of Spartanburg. He is also survived by his brother, Hector and sister-in-law Renee of Buenos Aires Aires; and his son Mark, of Lithia.

A private funeral service was officiated by Rabbi Siegel of Jewish Family Services at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, Fla.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Jewish Pavilion. The Alzheimer’s Association of Orlando and the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando.
