March 12, 2021

Shown here (l-r): James Farrell and Andrea Massey-Farrell, Jann and Tony Massey, and Harvey and Carol Massey. Not pictured are daughter Angela Riganese and her husband, Shane.

In recognition of their community involvement and their dedicated support of The Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center and the vision for the new Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity, the Center looks forward to presenting the Harvey and Carol Massey and their family with the Tess Wise White Rose Award on April 28 at the new White Rose Tribute Event. Harvey and Carol Massey of Winter Park have three children and 10 grandchildren. The Massey's philanthropic interests in education, arts and culture, human and health services, and community service, are evidenced by their generous gifts to many worthy organizations.

The Tess Wise White Rose Award, presented each year by the Holocaust Center, reminds us of the actions of a group of courageous students in Germany during World War II who created a non-violent resistance movement called, The White Rose. The group of students, led by Sophie Scholl and her brother Hans, worked day and night to publish flyers criticizing Germans who did nothing to combat the Third Reich's tyranny.

The individuals honored with this award are active and vocal members of our community. Like The White Rose, they believe that only through participation can we build a better home and a better world for all. For the Massey family, the values of inclusiveness and respect are central to their efforts, which are widespread across Central Florida.

The theme for this outdoor cocktail reception and program is Generations of Generosity and will be held on the future site of the Holocaust Museum for Hope & Humanity from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The new museum address is 75 South Ivanhoe Blvd., Orlando.

Join with others in celebrating the Masseys and in raising crucial funds to support vital programs, which allow The Holocaust Center to provide students of all ages with unique and inspiring educational opportunities.

In following the latest recommendations for COVID compliance, a limited number of tickets will be made available. Register at https://www.holocaustedu.org/white-rose-tribute-event.
