There are no words for the fear, anger, and despair we felt this Shabbat as the situation in Colleyville, Texas unfolded. In the same way, words cannot describe our relief when all hostages emerged safely.

This horrific incident is a reminder of what we already know: antisemitism remains a serious threat for American Jews in 2022.

Federation is dedicated to the fight against antisemitism. We make the safety of our community the top priority every single day. Here in Orlando, we are fortunate to have a top leader in security, Jake Silverman. As Director of Campus Security, Jake is available to and actively consults with other Jewish organizations and synagogues about security. Jake also serves as a resource for those interested in the Homeland Security Grant Program.

Thanks to the hard work of Jake and our security guards, our campus has robust safety procedures in place to maintain security. In addition, we are in regular communication with local, state, and federal law enforcement to monitor potential threats.
