Obituary - GERALDINE HANNAH WEINER

August 26, 2022

Geraldine Hannah Weiner, 88, of Winter Park passed away peacefully at her home on July 29, 2022. Originally from Dorchester, Massachusetts, Geraldine lived in Winter Park since 1961. She and her loving husband, Jason, raised 6 children together and enjoyed celebrating all the many achievements and joys, and watching their family grow with beautiful grandchildren.

As a young woman, growing up in the Boston area, Geraldine began her lifelong love of art. She attended the Boston Museum School of Fine Art where she focused on painting. Jason and Geraldine met on a blind date and, by the end of the date, they had a feeling they would be married. They settled in Winter Park and Geraldine became active with the Navy wives. She created many pieces of art for their assorted programs over the years.

Above all, Geraldine was a fun-loving and devoted mother. She was the kind of mom who dropped everything to play, paint, and read with her children. She knew that dinner could wait, but children would grow. In 1986, the family was honored as a recipient of the Great American Family Award and was invited to the White House by then first Lady Nancy Reagan.

She is predeceased by her husband, who died in 2001, but she is survived by her children. Andrew lives in West Lafayette, Indiana, with his wife, Brenda. They have three children, Roberta, Willow and Gabriela. Mary lives in Winter Park, Florida, and has been instrumental in the care of her mom for many years. Nathan and his wife Rosemarie live in Jackson, Tennessee. Alex lives in Cumberland, Rhode Island, with his wife, Beth. They have two children, Abigail and Megan. Daniel lives in Winter Park, Florida, with his two guide dogs, Parker and Jaden. Douglas lives in Maitland, Florida, with his wife, Sherri. They have two children, Julia and Samantha.

Funeral Services for Ms. Weiner were held in the Chapel of Congregation of Reform Judaism (928 Malone Drive, Orlando) with Rabbi Arnold Siegel officiating.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Lighthouse of Central Florida.

Services entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 933 Lee Road, Suite 101, Orlando, Florida 38210.
