Stephen Silver and Sandy Grant of Winter Park, Fla., are pleased to announde the engagement of their son, Derek Grant Silver, to Violeta Palombo Levy, daughter of Isaac and Silvia Palombo of Mexico City, Mexico.

The bride-elect grew up in the Syrian Jewish community in Mexico City. She studied communication at the Universidad Iberoamericana and graduated with a B.S. in visual journalism from Brooks Institute in California and a master's degree in strategic design from Universidad Iberoamericana. She is a freelance photographer and videographer. She also teaches photography at the college level. Her portfolio includes varied projects including photography for March of the Living.

The groom-elect grew up in Winter Park, Fla., and received a juris doctorate from Florida State University. He currently serves on the Jewish Alumni Network for FSU. He is an associate attorney with Colodny Fass in South Florida.

The couple are planning a Sephardic wedding on June 4, 2023, in Mexico City, and will reside in the greater Miami area.
