Obituary - CHARLES B. SILVERMAN

Mr. Charles B. Silverman, 92, formerly of Orlando, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, in Seattle, Washington following a brief illness. Mr. Silverman was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Samuel and Grace (Fine) Silverman. Shortly after graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, he served in the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He married his beloved, Ellen (Sinsley) Silverman, in 1961 in Miami Beach, Florida shortly afterward they made Orlando their home for the next 50 years. In the last three years, he enjoyed family gatherings in his adopted home of Seattle, Washington where his daughter, grandchildren, nephew and brother and sister-in-law reside. He was a former member of Congregation of Reform Judaism and a proud veteran of the United States Army.

He is preceded by his wife of 57 years, Ellen (Sinsley) Silverman; and son, Scott Silverman, both of blessed memory.

Mr. Silverman is survived by his loving daughter; Leslie Silverman of Seattle, Washington and his cherished grandchildren; Sage Silverman and Ethan Silverman.

Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Silverman were held at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery (9302 Morton Jones Road, Gotha) with Rabbi Rachel Jackson of Congregation of Reform Judaism officiating. 

He will forever be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He led his life with meaning, gratitude and a most generous heart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to organizations that support the causes he deeply cared about: Alzheimer's, veteran services, racial and social justice programs, and Jewish community services.
