Orlando 'Women for Israel' event redefined female-driven philanthropy

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, nearly 100 female philanthropists attended Jewish National Fund-USA's Women for Israel reception at University Club in Winter Park to learn how they can make a tangible difference in the lives of Israelis who were impacted by the Oct. 7 massacres.

The evening's featured speaker was Debbie Zimelman, an award-winning photographer and author who specializes in documenting the lives of women in Israel. Zimelman's photography book, "Women on the Front Lines," highlights several remarkable stories that she captured with her camera and describes the experience of Israeli female combat soldiers - offering an authentic glimpse into the growing trend of women volunteering for Israel Defense Forces combat positions.

Local lay leaders discussed how Jewish National Fund-USA's Women for Israel ensemble of visionary women is redefining female-driven philanthropy, and how the organization is spearheading initiatives to rebuild the southern Israeli communities on the border with Gaza.

The event was hosted in recognition of Jewish National Fund-USA's "Women's Month," celebrated annually in May, when each gift donated to the organization through May 31, 2024, is matched, up to $1 million, thanks to generous donors.
