Jerry Lee Cohen passed away in his sleep on Sept. 1, 2025. He was 83 years old. Jerry and his wife, Amira, were an integral part of the Orlando Jewish Community for over 30 years, but it was Jerry’s compassion and genuineness that truly made him special. His love of family over everything else, even his own wellbeing, was one of his greatest attributes. Jerry loved classic films and westerns. He was a huge sports fan rooting on his beloved Bengals and Reds all of his life.
A veteran of the United States Navy he was a patriot who knew he was living in the greatest country in the world. He passed this love of America to his two sons, Albert and Justin. Married for 60 years to Amira, who passed away 3 months earlier, he was convinced she was the greatest woman in the world. His love of family started early with his sister, Paulette, whom he was especially close to. He dearly loved his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His best friends in the world, Lawrence and Madeline McCamy, showed him family is sometimes a choice not an accident.
Jerry was a special person who will be missed dearly by the family he left behind. We will remember his compassion and wisdom and be guided by the example of his life.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Albert and Justin Cohen, Justin’s wife Angela Cohen; his siste,r Paulette Sherman; and his five grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Jerry were held in the Chapel of Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel with Rabbi Arnold Siegel of Jewish Family Services officiating. Interment followed at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with military honors.
May he rest in peace and may his memory always be a blessing.
Service entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 835 Lee Road, Orlando, Florida 407-599-1180.
