Opera Orlando’s All is Calm: the Christmas Truce of 1914

Arts at the J presents Opera Orlando’s All Is Calm: the Christmas Truce of 1914 on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

This holiday season, step back to the Western Front during World War I, where during the chaos of battle, a moment of unexpected humanity changed history. On Christmas Eve, 1914, voices rose above the trenches — first one German soldier singing “Stille Nacht (Silent Night)”, then another joining in, until the guns were silent and songs of peace filled the night air.

All Is Calm beautifully retells this extraordinary true story through the words and songs of the soldiers who experienced it. Performed entirely a cappella and in English, this powerful work is a moving tribute to hope, unity, and the enduring spirit of Christmas.

Written by Peter Rothstein with vocal arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach, All is Calm is critically acclaimed by the New York Times and Star Tribune. Show Run: 75 minutes, no intermission.

Join Opera Orlando for this one-night-only performance — a stirring celebration of peace, brotherhood, and the miraculous power of song. Following the performance, enjoy a “talkback” in the theater with the cast. To purchase tickets, go to https://www.rosenjcc.org/opera-orlando-all-is-calm/

This event has sold out at other venues - don’t delay to purchase tickets to this wonderful holiday event!
