Scene Around

Okay! So I’m a senior citizen...

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others. But, on reflection, I would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

The melody out of the music! (Rap is spelled with a silent C).

The Golden Rule from rulers.

The learning out of education.

The service out of patriotism.

And we certainly are not the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships. Does anyone under the age of 50 know the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner? Remember... inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the heck happened!

Yes, I’m a senior citizen who is still the life of the party... even if it lasts to 8 p.m.

I’m smiling all the time because I can’t hear a thing you’re saying.

I’m so cared for... eye care, dental care, cardiology, pulmonology, etc.

I’m sure everything I can’t find is in a secure place,

I’m wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that’s just my left leg!

I’m wondering, if you’re only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 150?

(I’m only kidding, of course???)

Let’s change the subject to Israel...

This fabulous country of fabulous people is heading the world in science and technology.

For instance, victims of severe burns often experience excruciating pain whenever their dressing is changed. A breakthrough device that resembles an oversized glue gun can now spare burn victims this added pain.

The SpinCare device, developed by Nanomedic Technologies Ltd, an Israeli nanotechnology company, is a bedside portable wound care system that creates an on-the-spot nanofibrous layer for tissue repair and healing without any contact from the caregiver, also reducing the risk for infection as the wound is never touched. The device is already being used in European and Israeli hospitals and is set for commercial market release later this year.

“It’s like a bandage but a very highly advanced bandage. It is for very serious wounds, second degree burns, surgical wounds, large opened and partial deep wounds,” said Dr. CHEN BARAK, CEO OF Nanomedic. He continued, “The unique aspect of our device is that we manufacture on-site a transient skin layer, a protective layer that remains on the wound throughout the healing process. The protective layer is applied from about 20 cm away from the wound, without touching the wound. It feels like a delicate wind. You apply it once, and it remains on the wound for the healing process. It can take two to three weeks, but the layer is there to protect the wound and to allow underneath healing of a new skin.”

((Israel does it again!)

My very favorite show of all time...

I’m referring to “The Dazzling Divas,” of course!

They will be holding a “Summer Sizzling Spectacular” on Sunday, July 21st at the BethAm Temple, 3899 Sandlake Road in Longwood. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for the fabulous show and dinner.

A $20 entry will cover the dinner, show and group disc.

Of course, the beautiful stars, Kenny Lee, Ramona, Krystal, India, B.J. and guest artist, lovely Dynasty Vonteese will perform.

(Looking forward to it!! BUT WAIT! Although I love the Diva shows, I can’t handle the competition. I NEED A FACE-LIFT!!)

JCC39ers Cinema Sundays...

On June 30th, the feature will be “Hell or High Water” starring Jeff Bridges.

Refreshments will be available.

JCC39ers Game Day Tuesdays...

On any Tuesday, beginning at 1 p.m. you can find the Senior Lounge of the Maitland JCC filled with 39ers playing their favorite games. Try your hand at Mah Jongg, Dominoes, Canasta, Pinochle and Bridge. Or you can introduce your favorite game.

(I love to play Poker!)

Shout-Out...

(Forget the face-lift, I need a diet!)

Okay, so I’m eating out again! But this guy has to be mentioned because he is simply GREAT!

His name is KALEN PENTON. He is Key Manager of the Outback Steakhouse on Aloma Avenue in Winter Park.

He made me and my friends feel so welcome and was determined to see that our food service was the best! It was!

One for the road...

One day, Moshe and Sydney meet at the Altamonte Mall. “So how’s life treating you Moshe?” asks Sydney.

“It’s not too bad, Sydney. God has been kind to me and let me reach 40 years of age last week.”

“Mazeltov Moshe,” says Sydney. “Did you get any nice presents?”

“Well,” replies Moshe, “mine Sarah bought me an SUV.”

“Wow!” says Sydney, “What a fantastic present to be given. I would love to have an SUV. It looks like a great car to drive.”

“Don’t get too excited,” says Moshe. “Sarah only bought me Socks, Underwear and Viagra.”
