A personal reaction to 'One World: Together at Home'

At first I was not going to watch this presentation because 1) I did not know most of the participants, and 2) the fact that it was in support of the WHO was a ‘turn off.’

However, the fact that it dealt with the Coronavirus and that it was simulcast on the three major broadcast networks and streamed online all over the world was enough of an influence to get me to watch it. And I’m glad I did—IT WAS JUST OUTSTANDING!—with one major reservation—see below.

The good, the bad, the ugly... and the outstanding

The Good: The production was first class. The presentations were, for the most part, well done. The three hosts (Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel.) were actually funny (and, thank goodness, did not use their pulpits to bash the president). It was simulcast all over the world—very impressive!

The bad: Supporting and raising funds for the WHO!

The ugly: No Israel! Considering that Israel has been in the forefront of developing advanced testing, a vaccine, and is a model for dealing with this virus, this was, not surprisingly considering the WHO’s bias, horrible in many ways.

The outstanding: We especially loved these two presentations:

• Elton John—“I’m Still Standing”: https://youtu.be/NCLagU-dr9A

• Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Lady Gaga, Lang Lang, John Legend perform “The Prayer”:  https://youtu.be/SYJCYr1I-Sk

Watch it. You will be impressed and inspired!
