Social summers with Temple Israel

Temple Israel Nosh and Know event covering topic "Oddball Jewish Law" held at the Jewish Community Center Maitland on May 23, 2021.

After being apart, many of us long for reconnection to community. This is exactly what Temple Israel is aiming to achieve this summer with activities for the very young to the young at heart.

Senior Schmooze

Seniors can get together for the Senior Schmooze program, created by Laurence Morrell, covering topics from old Jewish Jokes and growing up Jewish around the country to financial needs and downsizing. These hour-long, informal social events take place at Temple Israel in the Roth Social Hall on Sunday afternoons. Upcoming dates and times will be announced.

Nosh and Know

If you are new to the area and interested in meeting our members and chatting in a casual setting, join one of our "Nosh and Know" meet-ups with Rabbi Neely.  Here you will have an opportunity to meet the rabbi while simultaneously learning some Jewish concepts and how Jewish beliefs apply in today's world. The next two summer "Nosh and Know" meetings are Sunday, July 25 at 3 p.m. discussing topic "What do you believe" at Zoe's Kitchen Oviedo/441 N Alafaya Trail and Sunday, Aug. 1 at 3 p.m. discussing topic "Fighting Fair" at Zoe's Kitchen in Altamonte Springs 150 S. SR 434. Free event

Sha-Ba-BQ

Before summer ends and your regular routine begins again, don't miss Temple Israel's Sha-Ba-BQ on Friday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Roth Social Hall. All ages can get together, enjoy kosher BBQ and vegetarian options, and enjoy Shabbat services afterward at 7:30 p.m. in the Rein Sanctuary. Free Limited Seating so RSVP soon.
