Samuel Pottinger Lancaster, Jr., age 74, passed peacefully and surrounded by his family in Lake Mary, Fla., on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. He was born in Sterling, IL, on Aug. 15, 1946. He was the son of Samuel Pottinger Lancaster, Sr. and Margaret (Ryan) Lancaster. On March 21, 1966, Sam married Susan Beth Kaplan. They had two children: Eric (Annie) Lancaster and Lauren (Robert) Thomas. He was the beloved grandfather of Nicole Lancaster, Maggie Thomas, Ashlinn Thomas and Robbie Thomas; and the beloved uncle of Rich (Katie) Cummings and Margaret (Bruce) Mollins.

Sam was always happy, spreading smiles and joy everywhere he went. Everyone who met him would say, “I love Sam, he’s always happy!” He leaves a legacy of lives enriched by his optimism and positive attitude. He will be greatly missed.
