A roof over head and food on her plate thanks to JFS Orlando

August 6, 2021

Eve, a client of JFS Orlando's Family Stabilization Program, picked up emergency groceries from JFS when her monthly food assistance was cut short.

Eve has always been determined and motivated to find a better situation for herself and her two sons. "You just can't give up," she said. She has always believed that good things are supposed to happen to her and that is why she believes it was not by chance that she found JFS Orlando.

Although she was looking for rental assistance when she called JFS Orlando, Eve truly wanted to move her family out of their cramped living situation and into the comfortable home they deserved. "I reached out to JFS and I got a call back from Clelie, from the Family Stabilization Program. I explained my situation and the rest was history."

She explained how she had called other places but was discouraged. "They kept saying I didn't qualify. But in the back of my mind I kept saying 'I deserve better.' It's just rare - I've gotten assistance from other places and JFS just exceeds in the customer service. Everything that is given to you is well-prepared, it's quality, down to the phone calls - everything. You're handled with care."

Through JFS Orlando's Family Stabilization Program, Eve's family was accepted into the New Moves Program. She was finally able to move into a new, spacious apartment. However, soon after she found out her monthly food assistance was being cut. With a roof over her head but now no food in her kitchen, she turned to JFS Orlando's Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry for emergency groceries.

"It was liberating for me and my two boys. ... Everything just aligned and I can't be more thankful. You all have given my family strength during these unprecedented times! To everyone who has supported JFS, I just want to give a big thank you because you keep the world going round. ... You keep food on my plate and that of my children. Thank you."
