The Governor's Faith and Community Based Initiative recently recognized Temple Israel for their work in serving vulnerable populations in the community. Created by Governor DeSantis in 2019, the goals of the initiative are to thank faith and community organizations for the work they are doing, to open communication between organizations and the state government, and to identify resources for collaboration in serving Florida's vulnerable populations together.

As part of the recognition, Temple Israel received a certificate, an official pin, and access to a dedicated telephone line in which state government staff can answer questions that faith and community leaders have about the government and its agencies. Temple Israel will also be invited to take part in a series of calls, titled "Sessions with the Secretary," designed to keep organizations informed on the populations they serve and help them lead in the community.
