Jews In the Land of Disney: Decision Tactical - Safe 360-degree adrenaline

Jews today feel threatened with the rise of antisemitism and the increase in violent hate crimes that are happening in America and the world today. Yet we are a peaceful people and for many of us the thought of firing a gun, let alone going to a gun range to train is out of the question. How do we live up to the commitment of “Never Again” if we don’t have the skills to defend ourselves?

Decision Tactical solves this problem. I have never seen or have experienced anything as creative, practical and effective as what the owners have created. And I don’t believe anyone else has, until now.

A fun experience for the whole family, people are saying that Decision Tactical parrellels the TOP Golf experience incorporating shooting instead of golf clubs.

The brainchild of three friends from the Orlando area — Remo Eyal, Oren Gabbai and Uri Argov — the concept is brilliant! The three men, one a lawyer/entrepreneur, another a contractor and another the successful businessman/financier, all brainstormed the idea that was somewhat based on the Caliber 3 Academy located in Israel and influenced by Orlando’s world-class theme park technologies.

Caliber 3 was established by Colonel Sharon Gat of the Israeli Defense Forces and is considered the leading Counter Terror, Defense and Security Training Academy in Israel.

The difference is the partners have engaged with Full Sail University to assist them in developing the simulation technology that is being used to create theme-park style immersive environments with realistic street situations good enough for professional first responders including SWAT, DEA, FBI, and many police departments.

“By combining worldclass theme-park technologies with DT’s cutting-edge sim system, training costs dropped precipitously, and training effectiveness shot through the roof,” Eyal said.

Decision Tactical is aptly named. If you think about it, in any street situation, pulling the trigger is only one percent of the process. It’s the decisions you make prior that comprise 99 percent of the process of self-defense. The idea is to diffuse any situation and with proper training you can hope to avoid deadly force.

Shooting Range Simulator

The Shooting Range Simulator is a real gun range, but you don’t have to fear that you or anyone else is going to get shot. Yes, you’ll fire a 9 mm handgun, but it’s not real. It looks like a handgun, sounds like a handgun and even recoils like a handgun. It’s powered by a CO2 cartridge and is fueled by laser and high-end sensor technology. When you shoot, its loud, it kicks, and you can feel the floor vibrate beneath you, shaking your body slightly… like a real handgun.

The range features lanes that are equipped with simulation targets and immersive technology that mimics a real gun range. The gun range is ideal for those who have never shot before to advanced shooters looking to hone their skills and for anyone else with a skill level in-between.

It’s perfect for those looking to improve their shooting skills, practice their grip, stance, trigger pull, sight alignment, muzzle discipline and safety. You can engage in various drills tailored to your skill level. The range offers shooters the opportunity to practice shooting at moving targets, drawing from a holster and reloading — something you cannot do on a traditional gun range.

If you’ve never shot a gun, are curious but have always had a fear of the weapon, this is the place to come to satisfy your curiosity. You may find that once you’ve overcome your fears and become familiar with the weapon, you may embrace shooting as a new hobby, not to mention an effective tool for self-defense. It’s also a perfect place for the family as gun safety starts with our children.

Walk with me now through an Immersive Shooting Environment.

A domestic dispute is taking place, and I was called as a police officer to check it out. I entered the front door of the apartment after knocking several times; gun drawn. “Police,” I said. I heard a dog barking and loud noises of people arguing. The room had a dog in a cage on the floor, barking incessantly. There was a round table in front of me with beer bottles, cigarettes, and drug paraphernalia. The furnishings were in a décor I call, drug dealer chic. I saw a couple arguing. The only thing I could think to say was what I’ve seen on Cop shows, “Let me see your hands.” I saw the man had a knife. “Put the knife down. Put it down, now!’” He did. Then I said, “Get down on the ground. Let me see those hands.” They did. The simulation was over in that room. I passed the first test by de-escalating the situation and securing the suspect.

I continue to walk cautiously through the hallway of the apartment, my gun drawn. An open door. Inside, a kid’s room with a bunk bed and behind it was a little boy. Suddenly, I saw a man with a gun holding the child hostage. I didn’t hesitate, I shot him. He went down.

I heard noises in the next room but there was a door that was shut. I had to kick it in. I hauled back with my leg and smashed it into the door, which didn’t open. I did it again with more force. It flew open. I entered another room where there was a bad guy on the second floor hiding behind stacked boxes. He had a gun. He pointed it at me, and we got into a shoot-out. After I took him out, someone jumped from the corner closet that I didn’t see and wrestled me to the ground to try to take my gun away. Let’s stop here.

The realism of moving through actual rooms, hallways, and areas will immerse you in a lifelike scenario that closely resemble actual settings. When actors are used, the hands-on approach helps police forces to improve their spatial awareness and weapon handling skills in a lifelike controlled setting.

The only time someone will jump out and try to wrestle the gun away is if you’re a police officer in one of our local police forces in Florida, going through the various training simulations that are going on there. I also didn’t have to kick the door open because they have settings that set the tension. I just had to push it open.

Law Enforcement Training

Decision Tactical has set up virtual environments that place police officers in real world settings. Police forces from around the area are using Decision Tactical to train.

There is a central command control room that allows someone in your force to customize scenarios, with the ability to change up simulation, dispatch real people assailants.

“We’ve developed proprietary technology, which captures movement, concealment, proper decision making, communication, shot mechanics — every aspect of performance. After Action Review allows in depth analysis and precise corrections maximizing the impact of each training session,” Eyal said. Pepper spray can also be used in the scenarios to make characters react accordingly.

Self-Defense Training at the Dojo

Decision Tactical has a state-of-the-art Dojo set up in-house. They teach the Israeli Krav Maga self-defense system, developed for the Israel Defense Forces. Krav Maga is known for its practical defensive techniques, effective in real world street situations. Using techniques from Aikido, Boxing, Judo, Karate and Wrestling, Krav Maga is an internationally recognized way of learning to protect yourself.

“We have assembled some of the best instructors in our area. Featuring instructors like James Sang Lee, 4x ISKA World Champion who has appeared in numerous fight films as a fight choreographer; and Gerard Butler, stuntman and weapons consultant for films like “Lethal Weapon 4,” “Blade” and “Plane,” Eyal said.

DT Bar and Grill - Elevated Scratch Kitchen, American Fare

I just diffused a domestic dispute situation, shot a bad guy holding a kid hostage, broke down a door and got into a gunfight with a thug, then fought off another who was trying to get my gun, I was getting hungry, so, let’s eat!

When you walk into the front door of Decision Tactical you enter into a spacious sports bar/restaurant, with televisions all around. After sitting at a table I was served scratch-made American fare they call “elevated.” And to top it off, the bar serves signature cocktails that are handcrafted and chilling, ice cold beer.

I sampled a nice portion of the menu, and I can say that the food was elevated.

As an appetizer I had the crispy Brussel sprouts with Feta Cheese, drizzled with a Balsamic glaze, and the Gold Fried Cauliflower atop house-made DTAC cheese, topped with olive oil, green honey and zaatar spices. The chicken wings were to die for, the burgers were unbelievable and the grilled salmon was delicious. Then I topped it off with the lava cake.

A Unique and an Incredible Experience

The venue has over 40 televisions to watch sporting events and DT has hosted events like bike night, car shows, and a military Battle of the Branches. There indoor event space is also perfect for birthday parties to bachelor/bachelorette parties to company team-building events.

The genius of the concept has to be experienced firsthand. If you have curiosity, or would like to learn, come see what it’s all about. I promise you’ll be glad you did. And you know that the owners of this gun range are Jewish because they adopted Alan King’s summary of Judaism in a nutshell, “They came to kill us, we won, let’s eat!”
