Obituary - PEGGY DARA ROBBINS JANOUSKY

Peggy Dara Robbins Janousky of Oviedo, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at her residence. She was 63 years old. Peggy was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 1, 1962, to the late Dr. Albert and Shirley Robbins. She earned her master’s degree in education from Hofstra University.

Peggy was a teacher and children’s author, with two published picture books: “Move It, Miss Macintosh” and “Invader from Mars: The Truth About Babies.” She was also published in three of the anthologies of her mentor, Lee Bennett Hopkins: “Hanukkah Lights: Holiday Poetry,” “Valentine Hearts: Holiday Poetry,” and “Lullaby and Kisses Sweet: Poems to Love with Your Baby.” Her work was praised for its quirky sense of humor, subtlety, and beauty.

Peggy’s love of writing was only matched by her love of animals. She often used the word “foster” as code for “If you think I am giving this animal back you are out of your mind.” To Peggy, an animal’s life was just as precious as a human’s, and they deserved to be treated as would any other member of one’s family.

Peggy taught at every level, from preschool through college. She had a diverse background in international student affairs, special education, early childhood administration, and parenting literacy.

Peggy was known for her generosity and kindness, often going out of her way to comfort others, even complete strangers. She loved learning about the interests of her loved ones and cherished every opportunity to share stories, laughter, and traditions with her family. She lived by the motto “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Peggy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dr. Stuart Janousky; her sons, Joshua and Jeremy Janousky of Oviedo; and three beloved dogs, Emma, Julia, and Gracey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to No Kid Hungry (https://www.nokidhungry.org), reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.-

Graveside Services for Mrs. Janousky were held at Temple Beth El Cemetery in Fort Myers, Florida with Rabbi Bruce Diamond officiating. May she rest in peace and may her memory always be a blessing.

Service entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 933 Lee Road, Suite 101, Orlando, Florida, 407-599-1180.
