Local children will participate in a hands-on pre-Passover experience as a Model Matzah Factory is set up for them in Ocala on Sunday, March 22, at 1 p.m. at The Chabad Jewish Center, 3509 SW 34th Ave. Circle. Rosen JCC pre-schoolers bring Purim joy to seniors The children in the Early Childhood Learning Center of the Rosen JCC decorated and filled Shalach Manot baskets to donate to the Jewish Pavilion for distribution to seniors in nursing homes, assisted living and rehabilitation facilities. During the past 91 years, Lake Mary resident Dennis Keene of Springhills Assisted Living Community has developed a taste for hamantashen. Hailing from a religious family from England, each spring the Purim holiday was marked by the arrival of hamentashen baked by his mother. The second grade students at the Jewish Academy of Orlando recently hosted a dinosaur museum. The second grade students acted as docents and escorted parents, grandparents and siblings around a variety of projects and experiments that were covered in their recent unit on dinosaurs. The museum, designed with a variety or visual displays and hands-on projects, included experiments on the effects of erosion and abrasion, fossils and so much more.
