Congregation Ohev Shalom Held it’s Kitah Alef/first grade Consecration in conjunction with Erev Simchat Torah on Thursday, September 26. The students sang two songs, received their own Torah and were blessed under a Chuppah that the families made together. Nine teens were selected this month to be a part of Orlando’s J-Serve Teen Task Force. The Teen Task Force is a unique leadership opportunity for Jewish teens in grades eight through 12 to plan the community’s annual J-Serve day of teen community service. Tayarim Connect brought together 20 middle-school students for SukkahFest at the Roth Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando. Sixth- through eighth-grade students from all over the community built edible sukkot out of candy, played kickball and icebreaker games, and created a YouTube video. The family of Bunny Rosen has requested donations in her memory be made to The Jewish Pavilion. The Pavilion is establishing “The Bunny Club” in her memory. The fund will be used to enrich Jewish holiday celebrations in 54 long-term care facilities in the Orlando area. Bunny was a beloved volunteer who went out of her way to insure that residents enjoyed festive holiday meals. Some very creative teachers have brought the Jewish holiday of Sukkot into their Room 4 at the Roth Jewish Community Center’s Richard S. Adler Early Childhood Learning Center. The class, taught by Mickey Hibbard and Stefani Rabideaux, takes turns eating and sleeping in the indoor sukkah.
