Diane W. Abramson of Maitland, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at her residence. She was 79 years old. Born in Albany, N.Y., on Jan. 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lou and Helen Dasheff Weiss. She was married to her late husband, Arnold Abramson, for 54 years, when he passed away in 2009. A native of New York City, he was born on July 28, 1943, to Albert and Eve Griboff Blum. Helen S Goldberg of Orlando, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Westminster Towers in Orlando. She was 96 years old. Mrs. Goldberg was born in New York City on Oct. 23, 1917, to the late David and Gertrude Karp Weiss. An educator for many years, she also earned her master’s degree in education. Alyce Shames of Orlando, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Florida Hospital – Orlando. She was 91 years old. Mrs. Shames was born in Detroit, Mich., on Feb. 3, 1922, to the late Max and Bessie Bean Greenfield. A college graduate, she was a school librarian. Charles Sigal of Statesboro, Ga., and Charleston, S.C., passed away on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, in Statesboro. He was 71 years old. An Orlando native, Mr. Sigal, “Charlie,” was born on Nov. 15, 1942, to the late Frank and Sarah Brecker Sigal. Immediately following high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for eight years, earning numerous medals and commendations. Judith Stern of Orlando, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Miami. She was 79 years old. Mrs. Stern was born in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 6, 1934, daughter of the late Max and Esther Mestechkin. David Wallman of Kissimmee, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Consulate Health Care of Kissimmee. He was 90 years old. Jack S., Wiesenfeld of Tampa died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. He was 87 years old. Martha (Gigi) Wolkind passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Orlando Regional Medical Center, with her daughter by her side. She was 97 years old. Mrs. Wolkind was born in the Lower East Side of New York City on Oct. 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Isadore and Freida Kessler Jacobs. Helen Goldberg Brown passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at NuVisa Care at Hillsborough Lakes in Lutz, Fla. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Brown was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 26, 1923, to the late Louis and Miriam Goldberg. Sam Behr of New Smyrna Beach, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, in his home. He was 86 years old. Mr. Behr was born April 23, 1927, in Talledega, Ala. He played football at the University of Maryland and scored the first touchdown ever for Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. Mr. Behr was in the military and served at Elmore Air Force Base in Alaska, where he served as athletic director and received football help from Coach Bryant.
