William Leon Metz of Maitland passed away on Nov.11, 2013, at his residence. He was 87 years old. Mr. Metz was born in New York City on May 1, 1926, to the late Morris L. and Esther Kessler Metz. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Dr. Marvin M. Nathan of Winter Park, passed away on Saturday, Nov.9, 2013, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs. He was 98 years old. Dr. Nathan was born in Onancock, Va., on May 23, 1915, to the late Jacob and Elizabeth Greenberg Nathan. As a youngster, he moved with his family to Ocilla, Ga., where he excelled in school and was admitted to the University of Georgia at 17 years of age, with the plan to go directly into medical school. Shirley A. Wolfe of Orlando, passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Florida Hospital – Altamonte. She was 81 years old. A native of Essex, England, she was born on March 23, 1932, to the late Michael and Rachel Godfrey Myer. Mrs. Wolfe studied in England, graduating from secretarial school. Norman S. Jacobs of Winter Garden, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Florida Hospital, Orlando. He was 82 years old. Mr. Jacobs was born in Newark, N.J., on Jan. 23, 1931, to the late David Craig and Esther Greenstein Jacobs. He attended area schools and served in the U.S. Army. Shirley R. Lichten of Longwood, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at the Village on the Green Health Center. She was 101 years old. Born in New York City on March 14, 1912, to the late Joseph and Jessie Goldstein Epstein, Mrs. Lichten was an accomplished self-taught artist for more than a half century.
