A native of Winthrop, Massachusetts, she was born on April 30, 1944, to the late Perry and Pauline Bean Gerson. He was born on June 1, 1943, in Ciego de Avila, Cuba, to the late Manolo Paz and Augustina Dumenigo Paz. Rigo earned his bachelor’s degree in Camaguey, Cuba.
