Right in the heart of the quiet little city of Altamonte Springs, four women (ages ranging from 87 to 95)—Lee Delnick, Bernice Diamond, Helen Greenspan and Zelda King—were enjoying their weekly game of mahjong in the Escondido Condominium clubhouse when they were interrupted by Altamonte Springs police who came to shut them down. Scouts from all over Central Florida set out on Nov. 7 to help replenish the Second Harvest Food Bank shelves. Scouts and Leaders from Troop 641 placed "Scouting for food" bags at homes in the Maitland area. Bags are filled by residents and are placed outside their doors on the 14th by 8 a.m. for pick up. The Roth Family JCC of Greater Orlando welcomes Sara Rennert, the new Youth & Camp director, who began overseeing the JCC's 43-year-old Camp J, J University, and youth programs on Nov. 9. Every Wednesday, Rabbi Joshua Neely of Temple Israel teaches two adult education classes which are open to the entire community at no charge. In September 2014, the Mitzvah Brigade at Congregation Beth Am (CBA) in Longwood, Florida became aware of the acute need of hundreds of students at Clarcona Elementary School for food and clothing.
