Twice-monthly Shabbat afternoons have recently turned into monthly Shabbat lunches at Brookdale Lake Orienta. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Brookdale for working diligently with the Jewish Pavilion staff and volunteers to recognize changing needs. There were 355 Tuskegee airmen pilots in World War II. Their mission was to escort bombers to their destinations. Only 66 airmen lost their lives, and the group lost the fewest number of bombers to the enemy. As one pilot said, "Our mission was to escort the bombers. As the school year comes to an end, Central Florida students who depend on free and reduced lunches will no longer have access to proper and nutritious food. To help with this situation, JFS Orlando kicked off its Summer Food Drive, which began July 1 and continues through July 31. During the summer months, JFS Orlando provides roughly 40 percent more families with food from the Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry. Sharon F. Weil has been hired as the new director of Programming and Development at the Kinneret Council on Aging. She follows Leslie Collin who led Kinneret for 10 years from 2007 to 2017.
